TUCSON, ARIZONA – Breault Research Organization, a Tucson-headquartered defense systems integrator and pioneer in optics, has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The 6-month grant will provide funds to support the ONR’s need for an Advanced Lethality Warhead to address the evolving threat landscape faced by today’s warfighters.

As a small, non-traditional defense contractor, Breault Research Organization’s novel proposal securing the award meets the challenges outlined by the solicitation and adds significant value to the Department of Defense development process.

“The Department of Defense and the Office of Naval Research have given us an opportunity to provide disruptive solutions that significantly advance warfighter capabilities,” said Vieri Tenuta, Chief Technology Officer at Breault Research. “We here at Breault are excited to be selected for award and are looking forward to rapidly delivering a quality and game-changing product to enhance the U.S. Navy’s target defeat capability.”

Upon completion of the Phase I, an optional award may be given by ONR to Breault Research Organization to bridge the engagement to a Phase II where additional research, development, prototyping, and testing will be carried out as a proof of the proposed concept.

Breault Research Organization has been awarded many Phase I and Phase II SBIR grants in its forty year history on a variety topics ranging from cutting-edge research capabilities to defense products suiting the many needs of the U.S. Government.

“We are proud to continue our long-standing legacy of transformative research and development in support of the Department of Defense. Our proposed solution will deliver a next-generation system level capability and go above and beyond the solicitation with regards to advanced manufacturing methodologies” said John Spilotro, Chief Operating Officer at Breault Research Organization.
